Coming from the oldest and best known IWC Portugieser Collection, this watch is made after the iconic design that originated from the 1930s.
The first model of this watch was originally made in request of two Portugese businessmen during those decades that resulted to the Portugieser’s oversized dress watch look it carries up until today with 42mm in case.
This IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser ref.50010 boasts its original in-house self-winding cal. IWC50010 with 44 jewels in perfect running condition adjusted to 5 positions.
It’s stunning in-house automatic movement equipped with the butter-smooth Pellaton winding system that drives the calendar, hacking seconds and a surprisingly 168 hours (7 days) power reserve, which is a great technical feat, compared to a standard watch.
The pocket-watch style wristwatch has the silver-white dial with slightly sunken sub-registers at the 3 o’clock position showing its impressive power reserve’s meter and at 9 o’clock counting the seconds.
Its date window shows at the 6 o’clock position with chiseled down framing that makes it more noticeable at the bottom.
Steel-blue Arabic and bar hour markers give the classic look for this watch with matching blued leaf hands protruding at the center. The whole watch dial is covered by a solid scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass.
The crown at the side is also slightly bigger than the usual crown with ridges for an easy grip when adjusting. It’s also signed with IWC logo.
Looking closely at the case of this watch, Bauhaus style is evidently seen on the case with perfect symmetry of horizontal lines of polished and brushed steel variety design. At the back, the exhibition case shows off its gorgeous machinery in two-tone steel color with beautiful jewels and engraved details and logo of the watch.
Finally, holding this watch is an original IWC black leather strap with an IWC double folded frosted steel buckle that helps in easy balance with the chunky 14.5mm thick watch when being worn on the wrist.
